Sambal Bongkot


Are you really foodie, then why don’t you try this?

In this write up, I am going to share a sambal recipe named sambal BongKot. This recipe is very much famous in Indonesia. 


Sambal bongkot is very simple food item yet real condiment to the most Balinese(Bali is a city in Indonesia and people of Bali are called balisnese) especially to all Balinese who cook food at home. If you go to the old and traditional markets thre and ask for bongkot, the seller would definitely ask you to send him a bowl of sambal bongkot for himself …I bet you in this!  Well, Its unending all of time, the type of traditional condiment that would be most wanted by every  people, who have ever tasted it. it’s my promise  that you would never ever forget!

Sambal bongkot is one of a kind, typical home cooking—as simple yet appetizing sambal that could definitely turn your world upside down!


Sambal Bongkot
Ingredients
10-11 shallots, finely sliced
7-8 bird eye chilies, sliced*
2 bongkot finely sliced and chopped*
1 teaspoon toasted dried shrimp paste
6 tablespoons coconut oil/canola oil
salt to taste

Method:
Heat the oil medium fire, put some slices of shallot in hot oil, and fry until it just flaccid.
Put slices of chilly, mix and quickly fry and then add bongkot, fry for next few seconds.
Turn off the fire, fling in toasted dried shrimp paste and add taste by adding some salt. mix all of the ingredients until they completely get mixed.
Your sambal is ready to serve with your favourite seafood or with another fried food.

Cook note:
  • You can garnish it with sliced ginger pieces.
  • You can always fiddle with the ingredients as you desire,
  • Don’t store it for long as it turns dark quickly. Serve hot and fresh.
